How to make a business website easier to discover in AI search

AI search readiness starts with making your business easy to understand and your public pages easy to access. For an SME, the first job is to explain what you do, who you serve and what evidence supports your offer. Adding the phrase “AI SEO” to every page does little to answer a buyer’s question.

Check access before rewriting everything

Review whether important pages return normally, are eligible for indexing and have sensible canonical URLs. Check the sitemap and internal links. For ChatGPT search, review OAI-SearchBot access in robots.txt and hosting or firewall controls. Its search setting is separate from OpenAI’s training crawler setting. A page loading for you does not prove it loads for every crawler.

Answer a real buying question

A service page should tell a visitor what the work includes, when it is suitable, what the customer must provide and what happens next. A quotation-portal buyer needs information about product options and enquiry handling. A business considering SEO needs to understand the review, implementation scope and measurement. Clear specifics make a page more useful to readers and give search systems firmer information to work with.

Add evidence that belongs to your business

Show real implementation details, permission-cleared screenshots and an accurate account of your role. Distinguish ongoing work from completed launches and related-business experience from independent client engagements. If results are unavailable, explain the requirement and implementation without inventing performance figures.

Track observations separately

Record where your pages are cited, whether visitors arrive from those sources and whether enquiries are relevant. Search results change with wording, location and context. One mention is an observation, not proof of stable ranking. Technical eligibility also does not guarantee selection.

SMETech helps SMEs review these foundations alongside service content and enquiry journeys. Discuss your search priority or explore SEO and AI search optimisation.
